ALLEN MEDICAL SYSTEMS LAUNCHES PINKFIN ELITE™ STIRRUPS
TO BENEFIT SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE®
ACTON, Mass. – March 16, 2010 -– Allen Medical Systems, a subsidiary of Hill-Rom
Holdings, Inc., (NYSE: HRC), today announced the launch of the Allen® Pinkfin Elite™
Stirrups to benefit breast cancer research. As an official partner of Susan G. Komen for the
Cure®, Allen has agreed that for every set of Pinkfin Elite stirrups sold, they will donate $250
to the non-profit organization. Allen is unveiling the new stirrups at the annual Association of
periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) congress in Denver, Colorado today in their
booth, #2620.
The limited edition pink stirrups are modeled after Allen’s flagship product, Yellofins® Elite
stirrups, and will be sold at the same price. “We are honored to be working with Susan G.
Komen for the Cure to help raise money for this very worthy and important cause,” said
Jason Krieser, vice president and general manager of Allen Medical. “The numbers are
astounding; over 1.3 million people around the world are diagnosed with breast cancer
annually. The fight to end breast cancer is one that is important for us all to support.”
Mark Cole, director of U.S. Sales for Allen, explained how the product idea originated.
“Dustin Libby, one of our Allen product engineers, suggested creating a pink stirrup to
benefit breast cancer. Most of us know someone affected by breast cancer – this is a great
way for Allen to help raise awareness and give back to the community.”
Allen Medical leaders believe this initiative will resonate strongly with customers because
the product category, lithotomy stirrups, is primarily involved in surgery for women and
women's health. Allen is renowned for its boot stirrups, specifically the Yellofin® premium
stirrups. “We hope that this campaign will inspire customers to get involved in the fight
against breast cancer at the local level – in the communities where they live and work,”
added Krieser.
Allen Medical Systems has pledged $250 for every pair of limited edition Pinkfin Elite
stirrups sold between March 1, 2010 – March 31, 2011, with a minimum guaranteed
donation of $25,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
